A significant contemporary Australian painter, Waller's interests include the interplay between art and its social context, particularly through reinvention and change in the history of Western painting. This work is from a period in which she studied early Renaissance panel paintings, reimagining their compositional devices in the context of hospital environments. Waller taught at the Canberra School of Art for many years, including as Head of the Painting Workshop 2006-2018. She is represented by Nancy Severs Gallery, Canberra and by Watters Gallery in Sydney. A Watter's Gallery label from the survey 'Women at Watters' 1964-1999 is attached to the back of the painting
