As Found: light marks to surface at edges

Provenance: the artist's estate, originally scheduled for an exhibition in Melbourne, later affected by the pandemic

Originally trained in the UK, Bodalla-based Baker was inspired by scientific theories, particularly in physics. His later paintings are abstract in style, arriving from thinking about the tensions between observation and imagination, light and colour, materiality and representation. Baker was the youngest artist admitted to the British Arts Society, and moved to Australia in 1972, where he was a finalist in the Wynne Art Prize in multiple years.
