Coen is a well-known watercolourist who also worked in oil. Her delicate paintings captured the interplay of light on surfaces in her floral paintings and landscapes. Coen studied at the Royal Art Society School in Sydney and with Norman Lindsay, examples of her paintings are held by the Art Gallery of NSW and the National Gallery of Australia
